As summer slows down, SAS has shared a series of news that frequent flyers won’t want to miss, from a limited-time sale to lucrative 2x points offers, and new lounge access with the transition to SkyTeam. This post summarizes all the latest updates, so you don’t have to. Enjoy!
1. Big Sale on Revenue Tickets (Ends August 26)
SAS is offering heavily discounted revenue tickets to destinations across Scandinavia, Europe, the United States, and Asia. It can be a fantastic opportunity to secure good prices or build your status.
- Travel Period: September 16, 2024 – May 25, 2025
- Book by: August 26, 2024
2. Double Points with SAS EuroBonus Mastercard (Sweden)
The SAS EuroBonus Mastercard has increased its points earnings when booking flights at sas.se. The offer applies from August 15 to August 26.
- With the SAS EuroBonus Mastercard: Get 40 bonus points per SEK 100 (normally 20).
- With the SAS EuroBonus Mastercard Premium: Get 50 Bonus points per SEK 100 (normally 25).
3. New Lounge Access After September 1st
With the SAS transition from Star Alliance to SkyTeam, SAS EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members, as well as SAS Plus/Business travelers, will be able to access a variety of new lounges, including those of partners like KLM, Delta, and Air France. Despite the move, SAS has managed to retain lounge agreements with Lufthansa (a Star Alliance partner) for certain specific airports. Read all about it in this post.
4. Booking First Class on SkyTeam Partners
Last July 31, SAS hosted a Q&A event on Instagram covering many questions about the transition to SkyTeam, especially for their EuroBonus members. One of the questions that arose was about the possibility of using EuroBonus points to book first-class cabins after September 1. Good news! According to the airline confirmation, booking First Class on China Eastern, Saudia, and Garuda Indonesia from the beginning will be possible. Here’s a recap of what we know so far.
5. Double EuroBonus Points on Hotels
Earn double points on hotel stays (book here) and get at least 20% off selected hotels. Book between 14 and 28 August 2024, and travel no later than February 28, 2025.
6. EuroBonus Status Match: 10 Days Left!
SAS is offering a limited-time status match campaign from July 2 to August 30. This campaign allows you to match your existing frequent flyer status with another airline to SAS EuroBonus Silver or Gold, which is an excellent opportunity to enjoy SkyTeam Elite or Elite Plus benefits starting September 1.
Eligibility
- Hold Star Alliance Silver or Gold, OneWorld Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald status.
- Have been a member of the qualifying program for at least three months.
- Reside in one of the eligible countries.
- Be at least 18 years old.
How to Apply
- Fill out the online application form.
- If additional information is needed, you’ll receive an email with instructions on providing the required documents.
- Once your application is complete, processing may take up to 20 days.
Maintaining Your Status
To keep your new EuroBonus status beyond March 31, 2025, you’ll need to complete a specific number of SAS flights by that date:
- Silver: 2 flights
- Gold: 5 flights
