New Elite Points System

Starting April 1st, 2025, Iberia is switching from distance-based elite qualification to a spend-based model. You’ll now earn Elite Points per Euro spent rather than based on miles flown.

How You Earn Elite Points

  • Flights with Iberia Group:
    • €1 spent = 1 Elite Point (excluding taxes and fees)
    • Applies to base fares and carrier-imposed charges, as well as extras like baggage fees and seat selection.
  • Flights with partners: Extra Elite Points based on fare conditions.
  • Spending with Iberia Plus partners:
    • 10 Avios earned = 1 Elite Point

This means that moving up through the tiers is now easier, as spending with Iberia’s partners also counts towards elite status.

What This Means for Iberia Plus Members

These changes make elite status more accessible for travelers who spend more on tickets and extra services, rather than flying long distances. The introduction of Platino Prime offers an exclusive new level with additional perks.

For frequent Iberia flyers, these updates may accelerate elite qualification while providing more flexibility in how status is earned.
