SAS EuroBonus Status Match 2026: Free for Finnair & airBaltic, Paid for British Airways

SAS is actively recruiting elite flyers into EuroBonus, and right now there are two separate status match campaigns running simultaneously. One is free, the other costs €39–€159. Both grant SkyTeam Elite or Elite Plus status across all 18 SkyTeam airlines, including Air France, KLM, Delta, Korean Air, and Virgin Atlantic. And both close by the end of March 2026.

The free offer targets Finnair Plus and airBaltic Club members, with a flight challenge to retain status long-term. The paid offer is for British Airways Club members based in Europe, with no flight challenge but a fixed fee. The two campaigns use different platforms (Reclaim Protocol vs. StatusMatch.com), have different tier mappings, and come with different status validity windows.

Why EuroBonus Status Matters After the SkyTeam Switch

SAS joined SkyTeam in September 2024, and EuroBonus status now maps to SkyTeam alliance benefits. This is a fundamentally different value proposition than when SAS was in Star Alliance. Your EuroBonus tier now unlocks perks on Delta, Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines, and 12 other SkyTeam carriers.

EuroBonus to SkyTeam tier mapping:

Gold and Diamond both map to SkyTeam Elite Plus, which is the level that gets you lounge access worldwide. The main differences between Gold and Diamond are SAS-specific: upgrade availability, companion lounge access policies, and dedicated service lines.

Offer 1: Free Status Match — Finnair Plus & airBaltic Club

This campaign is run directly by SAS through Reclaim Protocol, a verification platform that lets you prove your existing elite status by securely logging into your Finnair or airBaltic account through their portal.

Cost: Free.

Deadline: March 27, 2026 (or when the allocated quota is filled).

How it works: SAS matches your Finnair Plus or airBaltic Club tier to the equivalent EuroBonus level. You get the matched status immediately, but there’s a catch: you need to complete a flight challenge within 6 months to keep it for the full duration. If you don’t complete the challenge, your status will be downgraded.

Tier Mapping: Finnair Plus & airBaltic Club → EuroBonus

Important correction from previous rounds: In an earlier status match campaign, SAS only matched Finnair Platinum members to EuroBonus Gold. This time, Finnair Platinum and Platinum Lumo correctly match to Diamond, which is the proper tier equivalent.

The Flight Challenge

This is what separates the free match from a no-strings status grant. Within 6 months of your match being approved, you must complete a set number of flights on SAS-operated, miles-eligible itineraries:

If you complete the challenge: Your status extends to the end of your current EuroBonus qualification period plus the following one, potentially giving you up to 24 months of status.

If you don’t complete the challenge: Your status will be downgraded after the initial 6-month period.

The flight requirements are reasonable if you have Scandinavian travel coming up. Short-haul SAS flights within the Nordics count, so a few Copenhagen–Stockholm or Oslo–Bergen round-trips can satisfy the challenge quickly.

How to Apply (Finnair/airBaltic)

1. Join EuroBonus if you’re not already a member (sign up here)
2. Visit the portal at sas.reclaimprotocol.org
3. Enter your details: First name, last name, EuroBonus number, email, and country of residence
4. Select your current airline (Finnair or airBaltic)
5. Verify your status: A secure browser window opens where you log into your Finnair or airBaltic account. Reclaim Protocol verifies your tier automatically — they never see your password.
6. Wait for processing: Approval typically takes 1–10 business days

Offer 2: Paid Status Match — British Airways Club

This campaign is managed by StatusMatch.com, a different platform from the Finnair/airBaltic offer. It targets British Airways Club members (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Gold Guest List) who are residents of European countries, including the UK.

Cost: €39 for Silver, €79 for Gold, €159 for Diamond.

Deadline: End of March 2026 (or when the allocated quota is filled).

Key advantage over the free match: No flight challenge required. Pay the fee, get approved, and your status is active for up to 23 months depending on where you are in your EuroBonus qualification cycle.

Tier Mapping: British Airways Club → EuroBonus

This mapping is generous at the top end. BA Gold maps to EuroBonus Diamond (€159), which gives you the highest SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits plus SAS-specific Diamond perks.

Status Validity

The paid match has a more favorable validity window than the free match:

• Matched status is valid for the remainder of your current EuroBonus qualification period + 12 months
• Depending on when your EuroBonus membership year ends, this could mean up to ~23 months of status
• After that period, standard EuroBonus requalification criteria apply

Example: If your EuroBonus qualification year ends in June 2026, your matched status would be valid from approval through the end of June 2027.

Eligibility: European Residents Only

You must be a resident of one of the following countries:

Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Vatican.

If you hold BA status but live outside Europe (e.g., in the US or Asia), you’re not eligible for this particular offer.

What You Get (and Don’t Get)

Matched members receive all standard EuroBonus tier benefits with two exceptions:

• No physical membership card (SAS has gone fully digital)
• The matched year does not count toward lifetime Gold or Diamond status

3. Provide your details: EuroBonus membership number, BA Club status card number, email
4. Upload proof of your BA status (screenshot or photo of your status card)
5. Complete identity verification if requested (passport or driver’s license)
6. Pay the application fee (€39 / €79 / €159)
7. Wait for approval: Notification within 3 days. Status appears in your EuroBonus account within 2–10 business days.

Payment is not processed until you are approved, so there’s no financial risk in applying. If denied, you won’t be charged.
