Last July 31st, SAS hosted a Q&A event on Instagram covering many questions about the transition to SkyTeam, especially for their EuroBonus members. One of the questions that arose was about the possibility of using EuroBonus points to book first-class cabins after September 1st. Good news! According to the airline confirmation, it will be possible to book First Class on China Eastern, Saudia, and Garuda Indonesia from the very beginning.
Here’s a recap of what we know so far.
Book Online or via Phone?
There are still many questions about how to book these awards and whether they will be available via the online booking portal or only by calling the contact center. We’ll monitor the situation closely and update this post with the latest information.
SkyTeam Airlines with First Class
Several SkyTeam airlines offer First Class cabin, some even with a top-notch experience, such as Air France La Première (Lufthansa’s First Class direct competitor). However, some partners limit the ability to book bonus trips to their frequent flyer program only (e.g., Air France, Korean Air). This means that EuroBonus members will have limited access to only certain SkyTeam partners.
1. China Eastern
China Eastern offers First Class on their 777-300ER (6 seats) and on their Airbus A350-900 (4 Seats)
2. Garuda Indonesia
Garuda Indonesia operates First Class service on its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
3. Saudia
Saudia offers First Class, known as “Al Fursan”,” on all its Boeing 777s. However, the best experience is on its 777-300ER, which has a more private, spacious, and intimate configuration.
AIRCRAFT TYPE | Seating Capacity | Seats Abreast | Seat Pitch | Seat Width |
---|---|---|---|---|
Boeing 777-268ER (77L) | 24 | 2-2-2 | 79” | 21” |
Boeing 777-368ER (77W) | 24 | 1-2-1 | 80” | 23.8” |
Boeing 777-368ER (77Z) | 12 | 1-2-1 | 80” | 22” |
4. Xiamen Airlines (Not Bookable with EuroBonus)
Xiamen Air’s First Class cabin is a bit of a secret, as the airline only operates a limited number of routes. The cabin features 8 First Class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, each with a fully-flat bed, a 15.4-inch IFE system, and plenty of storage space.
5. Korean Air (Not Bookable with EuroBonus)
Korean Air’s First Class cabin, known as “KosmoSuite,” features 12 KosmoSuites arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, each with a fully-flat bed, a 23-inch IFE system, and a minibar. Korean Air’s First Class is only available on a limited number of routes, and award availability can be difficult.
6. Air France (Not Bookable with EuroBonus)
La Première is undeniably one of the most luxurious first-class experiences in the sky. On the Boeing 777-300ER, you’ll find just 4 suites arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, offering ultimate privacy and spaciousness. Each suite boasts a fully-flat bed that’s over 7 feet long, a 23-inch HD touchscreen entertainment system, and a separate ottoman that can be converted into a dining table.
Only Flying Blue Platinum members can book this cabin with miles, though some award seats open up closer to the flight date.
