United Airlines is offering a shortcut to elite status with their 2025 MileagePlus Premier Status Match Challenge! If you’ve already earned status with another airline, you can match it to United’s program and enjoy Premier Silver, Gold, or even Platinum benefits for 120 days. Even better, you can keep that status for the rest of 2025 (and beyond) by meeting simple requirements. Here are all the details.

United MileagePlus Status Match (2025)

United’s 2025 Status Match Challenge is available from January 8, 2025, to June 30, 2025. Once approved, you’ll be upgraded to a corresponding MileagePlus status level for 120 days (known as the Challenge Period) after completing an Activating Flight.

An Activating Flight is a flight operated by United or United Express that must be completed within 90 days of your application being approved. You’ll need to fly at least one United flight for your status match to kick in, so plan accordingly!

United is matching elite status from many popular airlines. Here’s a glimpse of the match levels:

How to Keep Your Status

To extend your matched MileagePlus status for the rest of 2025 (or even into 2027 if you qualify after July 1, 2025), you’ll need to meet the following requirements within the Challenge Period:

MileagePlus Status	Requirements
Premier Silver	Fly 5 PQFs + earn 1,700 PQPs
Premier Gold	Fly 10 PQFs + earn 3,400 PQPs
Premier Platinum	Fly 15 PQFs + earn 5,000 PQPs

• PQF: Premier Qualifying Flight
• PQP: Premier Qualifying Points

Note: Only flights operated by United or United Express count toward these requirements.

The Application Process

Ready to match? Here’s what you’ll need to do:

1. Fill out the online form: Head to the MileagePlus Premier Status Match Challenge page to get started.
2. Provide documentation: You’ll need to upload a digital copy of your current elite status card from another airline. Make sure it includes:
   • Your full name
   • Current elite status and expiration date
   • Your frequent flyer number and program name
3. Fly a United or United Express flight: Complete your Activating Flight within 90 days of approval.

Approval typically takes 7–14 business days, and once you complete the Activating Flight, your MileagePlus account will be upgraded within 5–7 business days.

Important Notes (The Fine Print)

Here’s some fine print to keep in mind:

• No double-dipping: If you’ve used United’s Status Match in the past five years, you’re not eligible this time.
• Trial statuses don’t count: If your elite status with another airline was temporary or promotional, you can’t use it for this offer.
• Limited perks during the Challenge Period: While you’ll enjoy Premier benefits on United flights, some Star Alliance perks (like lounge access) may not be available.

Also, remember that the matched status is for the Challenge Period only. If you don’t meet the PQF and PQP requirements, your status will expire after 120 days.

Bonus Rewards for Platinum Matchers

If you’re matched to Premier Platinum and complete the Challenge requirements, you’ll earn 20 PlusPoints, United’s upgrade currency. These points will be credited to your account within 7–10 business days.
