Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and WestJet are joining forces in a new partnership that aims to boost connectivity between Canada and Scandinavia, beginning with an interline agreement and expanding to a full transatlantic codeshare later this summer.

What’s Included in the New SAS–WestJet Agreement?
The collaboration kicks off with an interline agreement, effective June 26, 2025, enabling passengers to:
- Book combined itineraries between Scandinavia and Canada under a single reservation
- Enjoy through-checked baggage
- Use single check-in for the entire journey
This agreement, officially signed during the IATA AGM in Delhi, improves the experience when connecting between the regions and becomes the first step for a full codeshare to follow later this summer.
Key Benefits for Travelers
✈️ Greater Access Between Scandinavia and Canada
SAS currently operates year-round nonstop flights between Copenhagen (CPH) and Toronto Pearson (YYZ). Under the planned codeshare:
- WestJet will place its code on this route, as well as SAS-operated flights connecting Europe (London, Paris, Amsterdam) with Scandinavia.
- SAS customers will gain access to WestJet’s domestic Canadian network, including cities like Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.

🌍 Expanded Destination Reach
WestJet customers will soon be able to book travel to 29 cities across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, including:
- Major hubs: Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo
- Regional destinations: Gothenburg, Luleå, and more
What We Look Forward To
At AwardFares, we’re especially interested about the potential this partnership brings for award redemptions between Scandinavia and Canada, two regions with strong cultural ties and growing travel demand. With thousands of passengers flying annually between cities like Copenhagen and Toronto, the upcoming codeshare could unlock new award routes using EuroBonus points on WestJet’s domestic Canadian network, or WestJet Rewards (or SkyTeam partners) on SAS-operated flights to secondary cities across the Nordics.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on opportunities to book one-ticket itineraries combining SAS and WestJet segments, think Stockholm to Vancouver via Toronto, or Oslo to Calgary with a nice connection or short layover. These could represent some excellent new sweet spots for travelers who want to maximize value with points, especially once the codeshare is fully implemented and award space becomes bookable across systems.
What’s Next?
The full codeshare agreement is expected to launch later this summer, further integrating both networks. Travelers can start booking itineraries under the interline agreement from June 26, 2025.
