On September 1st, 2024, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) officially joined the SkyTeam alliance, which means a major shift in lounge access for SAS travelers, among other things. With this transition, SAS EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members, as well as SAS Plus/Business travelers, will be able to access a variety of new lounges, including those of partners like KLM, Delta, and Air France. Despite the move, SAS has managed to retain lounge agreements with Lufthansa (a Star Alliance partner) for certain specific airports. Let’s look at the updated list, according to SAS’ website.

Update (Jan 2025): SkyTeam Domestic Lounge Access, Guesting Rules, and Time Limits

Domestic Lounge Access. Starting April 1st, 2025, SkyTeam will implement new lounge access rules that significantly enhance the experience for Elite Plus members. For the first time, lounge access will be granted to Elite Plus passengers traveling on domestic flights, offering greater comfort and convenience for frequent travelers. This new policy will initially apply to selected lounges, with plans to expand access to more locations in the future.

Guesting Rules. Additionally, SkyTeam is tightening guesting rules slightly. Elite Plus members will still be able to bring one guest into the lounge, but the guest must now be traveling on the same flight. Previously, guests could be traveling on any SkyTeam flight.

Time Limits. Another change involves lounge time limits. While most lounges will allow access up to three hours before departure, Elite Plus customers connecting between two SkyTeam flights will still have 24-hour access during stopovers. However, this 24-hour rule will not apply at the passenger’s point of departure.
