We need to share some important updates about SAS EuroBonus searches on AwardFares, specifically for SkyTeam partner flights. We believe in being transparent with our community, so here’s what’s happening and what we’re doing about it.

Quick Navigation

What’s Happening

Recently, SAS has increasingly implemented measures that specifically target and block third-party tools like AwardFares from searching SkyTeam partner award availability through the EuroBonus system. These are not technical limitations on our end, this is an active decision by SAS to restrict access to tools that help their customers find and book award flights.

As of today, this is affecting SkyTeam partner searches only. Searches for SAS-operated flights continue to work perfectly with no changes or restrictions so far.

SAS Flights Completely Unaffected

To be crystal clear: Searching for and setting alerts on SAS-operated flights (SK flight numbers) works exactly as it always has. There are no changes, no restrictions, and no limitations. This only affects searches for SkyTeam partner airlines like Air France, KLM, Delta, etc.

What’s Changing in AwardFares

To work within the constraints SAS has imposed while we pursue alternative solutions, we’re implementing the following changes effective November 7th, 2025:

Program Separation in the Interface

SAS EuroBonus will now appear as two separate programs in AwardFares:

  • SAS EuroBonus — for searches on SAS-operated flights (SK flight numbers) - WORKS NORMALLY, NO CHANGES
  • SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam — for searches on SkyTeam partner airlines (Air France, KLM, Delta, etc.)

This separation allows us to apply different technical parameters to each type of search while maintaining full functionality for SAS-operated flights.

Starting November 7th, 2025, there will be two separate programs for SAS EuroBonus and SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam

Changes to SkyTeam Partner Searches

Due to SAS’s blocking measures, we’re making the following changes specifically for SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam searches:

SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam Changes
Feature Gold Diamond
Manual Searches Temporarily disabled Temporarily disabled
Live Alerts Unchanged Unchanged

SAS Flights Unaffected

SAS-operated flights (non-SkyTeam searches) continue to work normally with no changes to search or alert limits. You can still search and set alerts for flights on SAS metal without restrictions.

Broad Searches Still Available

While manual searches for specific routes/dates are temporarily disabled, broad searches will still work for SkyTeam partners. This means you can still explore cached availability through alerts and routes that we automatically search - you just can’t manually refresh data for specific routes or dates.

Why This Is Happening

Rather than working with tools like AwardFares to help their customers find award availability, SAS has chosen to actively block access. They are spending significant resources, both effort and money, implementing measures specifically designed to prevent third-party tools from helping EuroBonus members search for and book award flights on SkyTeam partners.

We’ve Tried to Collaborate

We’ve reached out to SAS multiple times through multiple channels over the past months, seeking to establish a positive, collaborative relationship. We’ve offered to work together to find solutions that benefit EuroBonus members while respecting any legitimate business concerns they might have.

So far, SAS has ignored our requests to engage

For hardcore travelers and long-time EuroBonus enthusiasts like us, this is disappointing, especially given that:

  • EuroBonus members represent our largest user community.
  • We’ve built the leading English-language resource for EuroBonus award travel since 2018.
  • We help thousands of their customers maximize the value of their miles every day.

The Impact

By temporarily disabling manual searches and focusing our limited access on alerts, we can ensure the most valuable feature, automated monitoring of award availability, remains functional for everyone despite SAS’s restrictions. For now, there are no limits on the number of alerts you can set for SkyTeam partners, though this may need to change in the future depending on SAS’s actions.

What We’re Working On

These measures are temporary. We’re actively pursuing multiple technical solutions and alternative approaches that would restore full functionality for SkyTeam partner searches.

We’re committed to SAS EuroBonus as one of our flagship programs. You represent our largest user community, and we’re not backing away from that commitment, regardless of the obstacles SAS places in our path.

Can You Help?

If you work at SAS, know someone who does, or have connections within the organization, we’d love to talk. We believe there’s a path forward that benefits everyone:

  • EuroBonus members get better tools to use their miles.
  • SAS gains goodwill and engagement from their most valuable customers.
  • AwardFares can continue providing the service our community relies on.

If you can help facilitate a conversation with the right people at SAS, please reach out to our team. We’re ready and willing to work collaboratively on solutions that work for everyone.

Questions?

We know change is difficult, especially when it affects a tool you rely on for planning your award travel. Our support team is available to answer questions and discuss individual situations.

Your Questions Answered

Can I still search for SAS flights?

Yes, absolutely. SAS-operated flights work completely normally with zero restrictions. Nothing has changed for SK flights.

Are SAS alerts affected?

No. Alerts for SAS-operated flights continue to work exactly as before with no new limits.

What about my existing SkyTeam alerts?

All existing alerts will continue to work. For now, there are no limits on the number of alerts you can have, though this may need to change in the future depending on how SAS continues to restrict access.

Will this be permanent?

No. We’re treating this as a temporary measure while we develop alternative technical solutions to work around SAS’s restrictions.

Why is SAS doing this?

That’s a question for SAS. We’ve tried to ask them directly and discuss alternatives, but they’ve refused to engage with us.

Can I get a refund?

You may be eligible for a refund, you can go to this page to see what options are available to you.

Thank you for being part of the AwardFares community. We appreciate your patience and continued trust as we navigate these challenges that SAS has imposed.
