In recent weeks, SAS has unveiled codeshare agreements with Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines and significantly expanded its domestic network within Sweden. With these new partnerships and network expansions, and right after the switch to SkyTeam, SAS continues to thrive and solidify its position as a leading airline in Scandinavia and beyond.

New Horizons with Virgin Atlantic

Starting October 7th, SAS passengers will get access to a broader range of destinations through a new codeshare partnership with Virgin Atlantic. This collaboration opens up exciting destinations in the Caribbean, including Barbados, Antigua, and Jamaica, with more to come as approvals are finalized. Virgin Atlantic customers will also benefit from better connections to key Scandinavian cities like Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen via London Heathrow and Manchester.

This partnership is excellent for frequent flyers, allowing SAS EuroBonus members to earn and redeem points on Virgin Atlantic flights and vice versa for Flying Club members. SkyPriority benefits will also be available to elite members of both programs.

Strengthening Transatlantic Ties with Delta

Further expanding its reach, SAS has also entered a codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines. Effective September 25th, this partnership strengthens connectivity between North America and Scandinavia, offering travelers a more comprehensive array of choices and enhanced convenience. SAS customers will gain access to over 150 destinations across North America via Delta’s hubs. In comparison, Delta customers can seamlessly connect to 50 destinations in Northern Europe through SAS’s network. This codeshare agreement marks another milestone in SAS’s integration into the SkyTeam alliance, which it officially joined on September 1st.

In addition to these international partnerships, SAS is strengthening its commitment to domestic travel within Sweden. Starting in January 2025, through a new wet lease partnership with Braathens Regional Airways AB (BRA), SAS will expand its Swedish network with new routes to Halmstad, Kalmar, and Sälen. This expansion will increase connectivity within Sweden and provide more convenient connections to international destinations from Arlanda, Stockholm’s main airport. The increased capacity and new routes will stimulate regional growth, boost tourism, and provide greater flexibility and convenience for passengers.
