About Qantas Frequent Flyer
Qantas Frequent Flyer is the loyalty program of Australia’s flagship airline, Qantas Airways. Members earn Qantas Points when flying Qantas, Jetstar, oneworld alliance members, and other partner airlines. You can also earn points from everyday activities such as shopping, dining, hotel stays, and credit card spending. Redeem your points for award flights, upgrades, hotels, car rentals, and more.

What’s New With Qantas Frequent Flyer in 2025?
- Increased Reward Seat Availability. In 2025, Qantas is adding up to 1 million more Classic Reward seats, including in premium cabins, through partnerships with airlines such as Finnair, Air France, KLM, Iberia, and Hawaiian Airlines.
- Boosted Points Earning on Domestic Flights. Starting July 2025, members will earn up to 25% more Qantas Points on base earn rates for Qantas domestic flights. Additionally, the earn cap for tiered members traveling in premium cabins will be removed, allowing for greater points accumulation.
- Lower Cost Rewards with Jetstar: For the first time, members can use Qantas Points to upgrade to Business on Jetstar international flights. This coincides with a major revamp of Jetstar’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners, doubling the fleet’s business cabin capacity.
- Increased Points Required for Redemptions: From August 2025, the points required for Classic Flight Rewards and Classic Upgrade Rewards will increase. For example, an economy seat from Sydney to Melbourne will rise from 8,000 to 9,200 points, and a business class seat from Sydney to London will increase from 144,600 to 166,300 points.

Classic vs. Classic Plus Flight Rewards
When redeeming Qantas Points, it’s crucial to understand the difference between Classic and Classic Plus Flight Rewards:
Classic Flight Rewards | Classic Plus Flight Rewards | |
---|---|---|
Availability | Limited (subject to award seat quotas) | Expanded (more availability, fewer restrictions) |
Points Required | Lower, fixed-price redemption | Higher, dynamically-priced based on demand |
Fees & Charges | Lower taxes and fees | Higher taxes and surcharges |
Flexibility | Limited (change/cancel fees apply) | Greater flexibility; easier changes/cancellations |
Classic Rewards offer the best value for your points but require booking in advance due to limited availability.
Classic Plus Rewards offer more seat availability—even during peak periods—but come at higher redemption rates, making them best suited for travelers who value flexibility over points-saving.

Understanding Qantas Fare Types: Saver vs. Non-Saver Fares
Qantas offers various fare types across its cabins, each with distinct rules and benefits. Understanding these can help you choose the best option for your travel needs.
Economy Class Fare Types
- Economy Sale: Discounted fares with lower flexibility. Changes and cancellations may incur higher fees, and seat selection might come with additional charges.
- Economy Saver: Moderately priced fares offering a balance between cost and flexibility. Change and cancellation fees are generally lower than Economy Sale fares.
- Economy Flex: Higher-priced fares providing maximum flexibility with no change or cancellation fees. These fares often include additional benefits such as complimentary seat selection.
Premium Economy and Business Class Fare Types
- Premium Economy Saver / Business Saver: Provide moderate flexibility at reasonable prices. These fares offer lower change and cancellation fees compared to Sale fares, making them ideal for travelers who want comfort without sacrificing too much flexibility.
- Premium Economy Flex / Business Flex: Fully flexible fares with no fees for changes or cancellations. These fares typically offer additional perks like lounge access, priority check-in, and seat selection.
First Class Fare Types
- First Saver: These are lower-priced First Class fares, offering substantial savings compared to fully flexible fares, though they have limited flexibility with fees for changes or cancellations.
- First Flex: Fully flexible First Class fares providing unlimited free changes and cancellations, complete with maximum benefits, including lounge access, priority services, and premium amenities.
