JetBlue Airways has announced plans to launch a new domestic first-class product, known as “Mini Mint”, beginning in 2026. The introduction of this premium cabin is part of JetBlue’s strategy to get some marketshare of the growing demand for more comfortable travel options on domestic routes.

Mini Mint: All The Details

The Mini Mint cabin will feature traditional recliner seats in a two-by-two layout. These seats will occupy the first two or three rows of JetBlue’s aircraft that do not currently offer the airline’s Mint business class. The seats will provide 36 to 37 inches of pitch, offering travelers a more spacious experience compared to standard economy seating.

The updated configurations will be applied across multiple aircraft types, as follows:

• Airbus A220: Two rows of first-class seating (8 seats), with the remaining 135 seats in economy.
• Airbus A320: Three rows of first-class seating (12 seats), maintaining a total seat count of 162.
• Airbus A321ceo and A321neo: Both models will feature 12 first-class seats, with slight adjustments to economy seating to optimize space.

The “Mini Mint” cabin will be rolled out gradually, starting with older Airbus A320 aircraft.

Optimizing Space and Comfort

To accommodate the new first-class seating, JetBlue plans to adjust the pitch of economy seats from 32 inches to 30 inches on some aircraft. Despite this reduction, the airline will continue offering its “Even More Space” seats, which provide 35 inches of legroom, ensuring options remain available for travelers seeking additional comfort.

This strategic reconfiguration aims to balance passenger comfort with efficient use of cabin space, allowing JetBlue to offer a premium product without significantly increasing aircraft capacity.

It Doesn’t Stop There: Premium Strategy

The “Mini Mint” introduction aligns with JetBlue’s investment in premium products. Between 2025 and 2027, the airline plans to allocate $400 million toward initiatives such as the development of airport lounges at New York’s JFK and Boston Logan airports. These efforts are aimed at enhancing the overall travel experience and appealing to travelers that want services.

The addition of “Mini Mint” fills a gap in JetBlue’s domestic offerings. While the airline’s international Mint business class provides lie-flat seats, domestic routes have lacked a premium cabin. The new first-class product positions JetBlue to compete more effectively with other carriers offering similar options.

How Much Will It Cost?

JetBlue has indicated that “Mini Mint” will be priced at accessible levels (whatever that means). While details about onboard amenities and services are yet to be released, JetBlue has a strong reputation for a good onboard service.
