Frequent Flyer Programs That Book Lufthansa Allegris Business Class
Lufthansa is a Star Alliance member, which means that, in theory, you can redeem any Star Alliance frequent flyer miles for Lufthansa awards. However, not all programs are equal – some programs never release availability in Business Class or charge different mileage rates and fees. Below, we highlight the programs that allow booking Lufthansa Allegris Business Class and compare their value.
Air Canada Aeroplan
- Cost: 60,000–70,000 points one-way
- Fuel surcharges: None
- Extras: Add stopover for 5,000 points
- Best for: Those with Amex, Chase, or Capital One points looking for consistent pricing and low fees.
Avianca LifeMiles
- Cost: 70,000 LifeMiles one-way
- Fuel surcharges: None
- Best for: Great value with low cash cost; watch for phantom availability.
United MileagePlus
- Cost: ~88,000 miles one-way
- Fuel surcharges: None
- Best for: Simplicity and no cash fees.
Lufthansa Miles & More
- Cost: Dynamic; often >100,000 round-trip
- Fuel surcharges: High ($500+ round-trip)
- Best for: Early access, Mileage Bargains
Other Programs
- Turkish Miles&Smiles, ANA Mileage Club, Singapore KrisFlyer, some to high surcharges apply.
Summary: Aeroplan and LifeMiles offer the best value. United is solid for ease of use. Lufthansa’s own program is best for early access but expensive.

How to Find Lufthansa Allegris Business Class Awards (Step-by-Step)
Follow these steps to search for Lufthansa Allegris Business Class award flights using AwardFares. You can explore availability, view seat maps, and book directly through your favorite Star Alliance frequent flyer program.
Step 1: Visit AwardFares
Go to AwardFares to start your search. While creating an account is optional, it’s free and unlocks additional features.
Step 2: Choose the Frequent Flyer Program
In the Frequent Flyer Program dropdown, select one of the Frequent Flyer Programs that allow booking Lufthansa. In this case, we’ll search for awards using United MileagePlus, but you can also enable other Star Alliance programs such as Turkish Miles&Smiles and search simultaneously1.

Notes:
- Limits Apply
Step 3: Enter Your Route
Use the Origin (From) and Destination (To) fields to specify your departure and arrival airports. Pick one of the Allegris-operated routes (To/From Munich (MUC)). You can add up to six routes at once, allowing you to search multiple options simultaneously. In this case, we’ll search from multiple departure airports: New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO) and Chicago (ORD) to Munich (MUC).

Step 4: Filter by Airline
Click on the Airline filter and type/select Lufthansa (LH) only to view flights operated exclusively by Lufthansa. This will exclude all other airlines that appear in your search results.

Step 5: Select Cabin Class
Use the Cabin filter to choose Business Class only. This will only show results for Business Class and exclude other cabins such as Economy and Premium Economy.

Step 6: Explore Travel Dates
As we would like to explore fresh data across several dates available, we’ll use the Timeline View feature instead of the calendar. Click the Timeline button to open a visual calendar displaying seat availability for each day.
Initially, if no cached results are available, the timeline may appear empty, so you can refresh the list by tapping on the magnifier icon (🔎) on the bottom. You can tap on many days and refresh the results for multiple dates simultanoeusly (up to 5 seaches in parallel for Gold, and 30 for Diamond).

As results start to appear, different bars with different colors will display available seats in all cabin classes, in this case, just Business Class (due to our filter).

Below the timeline, you’ll see a detailed list of flights with available award seats.

Click on any flight to view more details, including departure/arrival times, aircraft type, flight number, duration, and estimated taxes and fees.

Step 7 (IMPORTANT): Check Seat Maps
It’s crucial to check the seat maps before booking the flight, given that not all the routes are “Allegris guaranteed” and the operating aircraft might change. It’s also important, given that Lufthansa now charges different prices for different seats depending on the features offered (read more below).
AwardFares includes a built-in Seat Map Tool to see which seats are free, occupied, or blocked. Simply click Seat Map to open a visual layout of the cabin, with each seat color-coded for easy reference.

Step 8: Book Your Flight on the Airline Website
When you find your ideal flight, click the Book button.

AwardFares will redirect you to the United Airlines website with your flight details already pre-filled, saving you time and hassle.

✅ That’s it! You’ve now learned how to easily search and book Lufthansa Allegris Business Class awards using your favorite frequent flyer program such as United MileagePlus.
How to Confirm If a Lufthansa Flight Has the Allegris Cabin
As of April 2025, just 3 of the routes have guaranteed Allegris configurations. This means that the operating aircraft is subject to change, and paying close attention to the cabin configuration and seat map becomes essential to confirm that you are effectively booking the Allegris cabin. There are a few ways to get more information and “confirm” that you are booking the right flight. Here are some of our favorite ways.
1. Using AwardFares Seat Maps
AwardFares includes a built-in seat map tool to see which seats are free, occupied, or blocked. When searching for an award flight, tap on Seat Maps to expand the seat maps window

So that you keep it in mind when checking the seat maps, Lufthansa offers two other configurations on their A350 besides Allegris, the older 2-2-2 configuration (reviewed here), and a 1-2-1 configuration (ex-Philippine Airlines). If you see more than 12 rows in Business Class, then your cabin is not Allegris.

2. Using Lufthansa’s Website
Another option is to visit Lufthansa’s website and perform a search on the desired route. In the search results, the note “Allegris: New seat concept” may appear on the flight.

3. With Google Flights
Yet another trick is to use Google Flights. When searching for the Allegris-operated routes, tap on First Class, and check if the details say Individual Suite rather than Lie flat seats. If it says Suites, then it’s the Allegris cabin.

Seat Selection Costs for Lufthansa Allegris
Lufthansa now offers several seat types within the Allegris Business Class cabin. Depending on the level of privacy, space, and comfort, you may need to pay a reservation fee. Here’s a breakdown of costs:
Seat Type | Reservation Cost |
---|---|
Classic Seat | Free |
Extra Long Bed | €100 – €170 |
Privacy Seat | €100 – €170 |
Extra Space Seat | €130 – €230 |
Suite | €400 – €600 |
Note: If you book a Flex fare or are a Miles & More Senator or HON Circle member, additional seat types may be reserved for free.
First Class Suite Plus Pricing
If you travel alone and wish to use the Suite Plus in First Class as a solo traveler, Lufthansa charges a fee of €1,900 – €2,900 for the privilege.
