If you’re a frequent flyer with Delta, United, or Southwest, there’s a great opportunity to explore elite status in the American Airlines AAdvantage program without starting from scratch. American Airlines is offering a four months of free elite status with their new status match offer. The campaign is only valid for elite members Delta SkyMiles, United MileagePlus or Southwest Rapid Rewards.
Instant Status Match Program
Through the AAdvantage Instant Status Pass, American Airlines will match elite status from Delta SkyMiles, United MileagePlus, or Southwest Rapid Rewards programs. The match is free, and the process is simple. Here’s what you need to do:
- Go to American Airlines’s contact page.
- Under Topic, select AAdvantage account service.
- Under Subject, choose Status Match (other airlines)
- Fill in the form.
- Attach and submit the required documents.
- Done!
To apply, you’ll need to provide the following documents:

How to Keep Your AAdvantage Status
Once you’re approved, the Instant Status Pass follows a three-stage process:
- Stage One: You’ll receive matched AAdvantage status for an initial four months.
- Stage Two: Earn a set number of Loyalty Points during stage one to extend your status for another four months.
- Stage Three: If you meet the Loyalty Points threshold in stage two, you’ll receive an additional four months of status. Continue earning points, and you could enjoy the status for a full 12 months.
Loyalty Points Requirements for Status Tiers
To maintain or elevate your AAdvantage status during each four-month period, you’ll need to accumulate Loyalty Points. The tiers are as follows:
- AAdvantage Gold: 13,000 Loyalty Points
- AAdvantage Platinum: 25,000 Loyalty Points
- AAdvantage Platinum Pro: 42,000 Loyalty Points
- AAdvantage Executive Platinum: 67,000 Loyalty Points
If you don’t meet the points requirement for your current tier, you can still qualify for a lower status level based on your points earned.
