Starting on September 24, passengers flying on JetSMART flights, both domestically and internationally, can earn AAdvantage miles. In addition both airlines announced that later this year, AAdvantage members will also have the option to redeem miles for JetSMART flights! This development is part of JetSMART’s integration into the AAdvantage program, enhancing rewards for frequent travelers.
As part of the broader partnership that began in 2023, American and JetSMART want to strengthen their presence in South America, offering more options and ultra-low fares to customers. This alliance provides travelers with an extensive route network and the opportunity to earn and redeem miles on both airlines, enhancing the (often poor) connectivity between North and South America.

JetSMART operates primarily within South America, with a focus on domestic flights in Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia. They also offer international routes connecting to Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Their extensive point-to-point network emphasizes direct flights between secondary cities, often offering these connections for the first time.

Using AAdvantage Miles on JetSMART Flights (Search for flights)
Later this year and once JetSMART is fully integrated, it will be possible to search for award flights using AwardFares’ powerful search tools:
- Go to AwardFares.
- Under Frequent Flyer Program, choose AAdvantage.
- Choose a route using the Departure and Destination fiedls, for example, Buenos Aires (AEP) to Santiago de Chile (SCL).
- Under Airline, add JetSMART
- Choose a date, or use the Timeline view to explore flights for different dates.
- Tap on the search results header to sort by price and cabin (e.g., tap on Eco if you want to see the cheapest award flights in economy first. Similarly, you can tap on Prem, Biz, or First).
- Tap on Book. Once you’ve identified the flight you want in the result list, tap on the Book link and AwardFares will redirect you to AAdvatage’s booking page.
Earning AAdvantage Miles with JetSMART
- Each passenger with an AAdvantage number earns miles for the flight.
- Miles will be reflected in each passenger’s AAdvantage® account within 30 days of the flight.
- The number of AAdvantage miles you earn will depend on the fare you buy and your AAdvantage status at the time of flying.
- The calculation for miles earned is based on the price of the fare in US dollars (excluding taxes and fees). If paying with another currency, the exchange rate corresponding to the day of purchase will be used.
- Anything else you buy like bags or seats do not earn AAdvantage miles.
